“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
– Princess Diana
Many of us are struggling with the new ‘normal’ during these unusual times. So for World Kindness Day why not show others you care by doing something kind? Kindness UK and mentalhealth.org.uk has lots of ideas for acts of kindness you can put into action, here are a few to get you started…
1. Send a kind text to someone you know
You could give them a compliment, a thank you message to show how much you appreciate them, send them a motivational quote or anything kind that will put a smile on their face!
2.Make a donation to charity
You could donate to a charity of your choice online, or have a clear out and give any items that are in good condition to your local charity shop.
3. Have a meat free day
Cutting down on meat can have a really positive impact on our planet. Here are some classic recipes minus the meat to get you started.
4. Arrange to watch a film at the same time as a friend or family member
Since we have been advised by the government to stay at home where we can, many of us will be spending a lot more time at home that we would have been this time last year. Use Netflix Party or Prime Party to watch TV with your friends online.
5. Say hello to an older neighbour
Age UK report that 1.9 million older people often feel ignored or invisible. Simply saying hello can be a huge act of kindness.
6. Look out for opportunities to show kindness
These stories of random acts of kindness are sure to inspire you!
7. Call a friend that you haven’t spoken to in a while
Simply calling a friend who hasn’t heard from you in a while could cheer your friend up.
What are you doing to show kindness this year? We’d love to hear all about it, feel free to comment below.
